Minister Luveni Delivers Statement

Fiji's Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Jiko Luveni, delivered Fiji’s Statement at the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York on Tuesday, 2nd March 2010. In her statement, the Minister reiterated Fiji’s unwavering support for the Beijing Platform for Action, which provides an international benchmark for national initiatives in relation to women's issues.

In the statement, Dr Luveni also highlighted a number of important laws recently introduced by the Government of Fiji to ensure the protection of women and children and improve their status in society.

The Minister was accompanied by the Director for Women, Mrs Salote Radrodro, at the annual meeting of women.
