Minister Luveni and Ambassador Thomson Attend Australian Reception

The Minister for Social Welfare,Women and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Jiko Luveni, and Fiji’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Peter Thomson, attended a Reception hosted for the Pacific Island countries by the Australian Mission to the UN on Wednesday, 3rd March 2010.

Minister Luveni and the rest of the Fiji delegation were warmly welcomed in Ambassador Gary Quinlan's address to the reception. The gathering provided an opportunity for the Minister to meet with strategic contacts from non-governmental agencies and delegates of Pacific Island countries in attendance.

Also in attendance at the Reception were ambassadors and diplomats from a number of Pacific Island countries, NGO representatives who were in New York for the CSW meeting, other friends of the Pacific and the Fiji delegation comprised of Director for Women, Mrs. Salote Radrodro, Counsellor Daunivalu and Second Secretary Nayasi.
