UN Peacekeepers Medal Ceremony

A medal presentation ceremony was held at the United Nations Headquarters on 29 May 2013 to mark the International Day of United Nations Peacekeeping. The United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, led the United Nations in commemorating those who lost their lives over the past year. “I am honoured to award the Dag Hammarskjold medal to the 103 peacekeepers who died while serving the United Nations in 2012” said the Secretary General.

Yauvoli Opens G77 Climate Talk

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Amena Yauvoli, chaired and opened the first meeting for 2013 of the Group of 77 and China convened in the context of the climate change negotiations on Sunday, 29 April in Bonn, Germany.

The G77 preparatory meeting is traditionally held the day before scheduled UN climate change sessions to enable the 132-member grouping of developing countries to organize itself for the negotiations.
