Yauvoli Opens G77 Climate Talk

The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Amena Yauvoli, chaired and opened the first meeting for 2013 of the Group of 77 and China convened in the context of the climate change negotiations on Sunday, 29 April in Bonn, Germany.

The G77 preparatory meeting is traditionally held the day before scheduled UN climate change sessions to enable the 132-member grouping of developing countries to organize itself for the negotiations.

On 1 May 2013, the New York based G77 ambassadors met for the 4th time this year in a series of brainstorming meetings on the subject of sustainable development in the context of the post-2015 development agenda.

Prime Minister Bainimarama Continues Visit to the United Nations as Chair of the Group of 77 and China

Fiji’s Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, continued with meetings at the UN today in his role as Chair of the Group of 77 and China. This morning he attended the Special High Level Meeting of ECOSOC on External Debt Sustainability and Development. The meeting is addressing lessons learned from debt crises and ongoing work on sovereign debt restructuring and debt resolution mechanisms.
