At the request of UN Secretary-General, H.E. Mr Ban Ki-moon, the UN Ambassadors of the 134 Member States of the Group of 77 and China met in New York yesterday.  The meeting was Chaired by Fiji's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Peter Thomson.

Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals Meets in New York

The Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals met at the United Nations today to discuss means of implementation of science and technology knowledge-sharing and capacity building.  The Open Working Group is tasked with producing a report in 2014 on the Sustainable Development Goals for inclusion in the world's Post-2015 Development Agenda.

The Government of Burkina Faso and the Republic of Fiji formalised diplomatic relations at a ceremony at the Fiji Mission to the United Nations in New York on 22 November 2013. The Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations, Ambassador Der Kogda and his Fijian counterpart, Ambassador Peter Thomson, signed the joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the two States.

G77 Chair Advocates for Sanitation

Speaking in Fiji’s capacity as 2013 Chair of the Group of 77 and China, Fijian Ambassador Peter Thomson, today addressed the United Nations on the importance of giving prominence to improved sanitation in the global Post-2015 Development Agenda. The focus in New York today on sanitation was due to 19th November being designated by the United Nations as “World Toilet Day”.

The Principality of Monaco and the Republic of Fiji formalised diplomatic relations at a ceremony at the Fiji Mission to the United Nations in New York on 13th November, 2013. The Permanent Representative of Monaco to the United Nations, Ambassador Isabelle Picco and her Fiji counterpart, Ambassador Peter Thomson, today signed a joint communiqué establishing diplomatic relations between the two States.
